Blue Like Jazz: Nonreligious Thoughts on Christian Spirituality

Dannnnng!! Where has the year even gone?!?! Seriously, if you could tell me, I would be much obliged! I must confess that I'm writing on here for the sole purpose of post-poning studying for finals just a little bit more. You know how I roll. Ha!

I'm not even sure if it would be feasible for me to sum up everthing that has happened over the course of this year in one short "blog" [if you will], so I won't even begin to try.  But trust me when I say this: My freshman year here in the OC has been nothing short of spectacular, and I probably couldn't be more pleased with life at this point if I gave it my best attempt!

I think it's important to note that Donald Miller is a brilliant man.  It doesn't even matter if you don't necessarily agree with all of his opinions or insights - you have to credit him for looking beyond what is conventional, and providing a fresh perspective on what it means to practice Christianity today [or should I say, Christian spirituality].

Right now I just really like listening to Stevie Wonder and there's not a whole lot you can do about it! Mmmmmm hmmmm.

Also, during the course of my lifetime I'm planning on living for atleast one year in a hippie community somewhere [preferably near the coast], where I will simply love Jesus, and love people, and enjoy life as it was intended to be.  You should really join me on this grand adventure - I guarantee it will be a radical time. Then, I plan on writing a book about my experiences. I've got this thing alllllll figured out, haven't I?!

I think that's all I will write for now. This post has most definitely been fine, just like the last time.

Keep rockin the free world,
the mk

so just in case you weren't aware of it, it's pretty much august already. talk about nutty!

that means i only have 6 days of work left, and only 18 days until i leave for school.

yikes. a. bee.

things are changing, and it's difficult to for me not to wish that they would just stay the same.  i'm so amped to go to college, yet i'm really not looking forward to leaving, and having to say goodbye.  i guess this is growing up.

in other news, i've been really obsessed with crossword puzzles lately.  i can usually only answer like five of the questions, but i just really enjoy the challenge.

the hot air balloon festival is in indianola this week i believe.  i'm not sure if i will be able to find the time to go - but i'm sure if i did it would amount to a good time!

the fair is drawing nearer, and that only means one thing to me: funnelllllllll caaaaaaaaake!!!!!!!!!  mmmmmboy.

lastly: "when life hands me lemons, i make beef stew".  that's probably like one of the funniest songs. ever.

hugs and love,

mere.

hands down, our trip to mexico was amazing.  i wouldn't even know where to begin in describing it.  so if you want to see pictures or hear stories, just ask me - because i have tons of both.

i am blessed to serve such an incredibly powerful and wonderful God.  i never want to lose my passion or neglect my first love again - and i pray you won't either. <3

this past sunday emily and i ventured to omaha to do fun things like go to the zoo and make new friends at goodwill.  i have some pretty sweet pictures of animals from the zoo, but then my camera was basically dunzo after that!! you can look at them here:  http://photobucket.com/albums/v202/msauce/zoo/

i don't even know what has brought this about, but i pretty much really want to go horseback riding.  and fly a kite.

i hope your summer is as wonderful as you are!  don't forget that i love you so very much.
